5 Tips to Effective SEO Keyword Research Analysis

September 14th, 2010

Keyword research and analysis can be a daunting task, when done correctly, and expert keyword research is the foundation to a successful SEO campaign. Many new website owners think the keyword research analysis process is easy. They think free tools, such as the Overture Search Term Suggestion Tool is the profit pill that will bring them instant results.

Unfortunately, the free tools will only give you a rough guide and a quick indication whether a hunch is worth further research. These free keyword research tools are limited to basic information. When performed correctly, expert keyword research exposes so much more - all the gems that are tucked away deep.

Real keyword research requires research AND analysis. There are so many aspects to the process that cannot be left to chance. Attempting to do the keyword research on your own is like going to a veterinarian to fix your car. My advise to all clients I do SEO consulting services for is to simply leave this task to the experts who have the correct keyword research tools and expertise.

Internet Marketing Strategy

September 1st, 2010

Internet marketing experts from all over the world gather together every year to discuss a variety of subjects and issues. During one such conference the topic was Internet Marketing Strategy. I was amazed to see how little is actually know about the subject. Each expert presented 5 random websites and then everyone tore them apart. The end result was that out of 200 random websites we only found 6 that had a clear internet marketing strategy in place. Surprisingly all 200 had been SEO’d. All were on on either page 1 or page 2 in the search results page of the major search engines for roughly 80% of their keywords.

Not surprising was of the 200 websites analyzed, only the 6 with a clear internet marketing strategy were hugely successfull. The others reported sluggish sales if any. It became very clear to us that we needed to educate people on what an internet marketing strategy is.

SEO Friendly vs User Friendly

August 31st, 2010

As a SEO services company you cannot possibly image what kind of questions we have to answer. Every client wants the same thing, “to be on the first page of Google”. Simple enough right. So they go out in search to either learn how to do it or to hire someone to do it for them.

Most SEO services companies or one man shows really only know the basics. Their tactics are standard and they usually can get the job done. But do they really know what they are doing. In my opinon not really.

SEO just prepares the site for indexing. It does nothing for indexing the site PROPERLY. And there is a huge difference between the two. I will not get into the scope of that because its complexity is enormus and there are some secrets I wish to keep to myself. But I will tell you this. It is the difference between a 3000 Baht per month fee and 10,000+ Baht per month fee.

Does Your Content Sell

July 16th, 2009

While writting with search engines in mind, SEO content should also consider the end users of your website; your potential customers. Attracting masses of traffic, regardless of how targeted that traffic, is only a portion of the battle.

If the content you’ve used is next to meaningless or smacks of being written solely to rank well in the search engines then your website will under perform and your online business efforts will suffer as a consequence.

Finding the perfect blend between search optimized content and offering an enhanced user experience is critical to better website performance.

The Proper Approach to SEO

July 13th, 2009

So much is written on SEO that it can get confusing, here is our guide to the proper approach for SEO - Search Engine Optimization.

Introduction
There are 2 types of search engines: Search Engine Spiders and Search Engine Directories. Each search engine uses unique criteria for “ranking” sites - this “ranking” determines their placement in the search engine results page (SERP). Spider-driven engines use robots to spider sites on the Internet. Robots “crawl” each site and “score” pages based on relevancy. Directories have humans that check the sites - rather than robots. Some engines score the index page while others score individual web pages.

The goal of search engine optimization (SEO) is to get higher rankings. This is done using a two-step process. The first is to use industry information that allows professional optimizers to understand what these robots are looking for. This is a complex process because a Web site’s placement within a spider driven search engine is derived from hundreds of variables such as link popularity, click popularity, keyword density, Web site themes and more. The second way SEO professionals optimize sites is to eliminate/reduce on-site techniques that can impede the search engine spidering process.

Call To Action

July 12th, 2009

A call to action is an internet marketing term used to describe a button or catch phrase that forces a user to perform some sort of action.

An action could be defined as clicking on a button or banner thus moving deeper into the website or navigating to a landing page.

The How’s and Why’s

Any good internet marketing professional will demand that you create calls to action on your principle landing pages, or your email marketing material. These calls can and usually are in the form of a button, banner or headline link. They are your sales pitch.

What you want is to get the user to click on them, so they must be attractive and in the right location. They must be easily available and they must contain the right message.

By using calls to action you can control what your user sees by directing them to the pages you want. These pages are then set up in such a way that the user has all the information they need to take the next step.

Conversions 101

July 5th, 2009

Today we will introduce you to the topic of conversions. Conversions are the standard on how a website’s success is measured. SEO and internet marketing firms use this result to determine how well an internet marketing campaign is working. A conversion occurs when your website gets a visitor to take an action that you want them to take. A conversion can be a sale, a download or a lead. A conversion can also be as simple as getting a visitor to visit a specific page.

Conversions are measured in percentage points. Simply divide the number of conversions by your total visitor count and presto conversion ratio. A more advanced conversion ratio is measured by dividing the number of conversions by the number of unique visitors.
